William H. Wellman was born in Huntington, West Virginia. He graduated from Miami University in 1974 with his BA in Political Science. Mr. Wellman received his JD from West Virginia University College of Law in 1979. Soon thereafter he began his law practice in Nampa, Idaho. His practice specializes in Criminal Defense.
 
Mr. Wellman has had the privilege to serve the local area as the Canyon County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney and the Nampa City Prosecuting Attorney. He now serves as the Owyhee County Public Defender as well as the Special Deputy Attorney General for Child Support Enforcement. Additionally, he served as Idaho State Bar Commissioner for Districts 3 and 5 from 2011 - 2014  and as President of the Idaho State Bar from 2013 until 2014. He was an original member of the Idaho Public Defense Commission in 2014 through 2017. 

Mr. Wellman is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.
